‘Disgusting’: Animal rights activist Tash Peterson angers crowd at QLD market
An infamous animal rights activist has sparked fury after clashing with parents outside a reptile stall in Queensland.
A provocative vegan advocate has been arrested after ranting about animal rights outside a reptile stall at the Surfers Paradise markets.
The animal rights activist confronted the owner of the stall last Friday night, triggering a confrontation with parents who took issue with her filming near their children.
In a video shared to the 32-year-old’s social media accounts, Ms Peterson was seen heading towards a reptile stall where a young girl was getting pictures taken with a baby crocodile.
“These animals deserve to be in the wild, not here for children’s entertainment. This is disgusting,” Ms Peterson shouted.
Bystanders stepped in, claiming Ms Peterson was taking videos of the young child without her parents’ consent.
Ms Peterson blurred the children’s faces in the video she posted to social media.
The conflict escalated when a bystander attempted to snatch Ms Peterson’s phone out of her hand.
The young girl’s mother, who was in the reptile stall, confronted Ms Peterson, telling her to “p*ss off”, followed by other members of the public who intervened to attempt to prevent the activist from filming.
Cops were called to the scene and arrested the animal activist the following day, fining her $1001 and banning her from returning to the precinct for a month.

“Around 5.30pm, officers were called to The Esplanade following reports a female was causing a disturbance while members of the public were attending an event,” a Queensland Police spokesperson told news.com.au.
“Following investigations, the 32-year-old female was fined for Public Nuisance Infringement and was issued with a Police Banning Notice prohibiting her from attending the Surfers Paradise Safe Night Precinct for 28 days.”
Ms Peterson defended her actions, insisting the use of animals for human entertainment was “unethical”.
